Unquiet sleep due to stomach disharmony

胃不和卧不安 〔胃不和臥不安〕 wèi bù hé wò bù ān

From The Inner Classic (内经 nèi jīng). Inability to sleep well due to stomach counterflow panting. Unquiet sleep due to stomach disharmony arises when a strong stomach with large intake of food and a weak spleen result in stagnation in the stomach domain (stomach and intestines) and cause rheum and phlegm to form.

Medicinal therapy: Harmonize the stomach and dispel phlegm. Use Two Matured Ingredients Stomach-Calming Powder (二陈平胃散 èr chén píng wèi sǎn) plus acorus (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 石菖蒲 shí chāng pú) and costazia bone/pumice (Costaziae Os/Pumex, 海浮石 hǎi fú shí), or gardenia (Gardeniae Fructus, 山栀子 shān zhī zǐ) and coptis (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连 huáng lián). For hard bound stool, use Phlegm-Abducting Decoction (导痰汤 dǎo tán tāng). For stomach duct pain, use Phlegm-Rolling Pill (滚痰丸 gǔn tán wán) or even Minor Stomach Elixir (小胃丹 xiǎo wèi dān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on HT, CV, back transport points, and ST. Select Alert Spirit Quartet (四神聪 sì shén cōng), HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān); needle with drainage.
