- Clears lung heat and transforms phlegm:
Heat -phlegm cough . - Softens hardness and disperses binds: Scrofula; goiter.
- Additional uses: Hǎi fú shí can disinhibit urine and free strangury (lìn) in the treatment of stone strangury and blood strangury. For this, it is combined with xiǎo jì (小蓟 Cirsii Herba, field thistle;), pú huáng (蒲黄 Typhae Pollen, typha pollen;), and mù tōng (木通 Akebiae Trifoliatae Caulis, trifoliate akebia).
Dosage & Method:
Oral: 10–15g in decoctions. Decoct wrapped in cloth.
Quality:
Should be grayish white in color, and light enough to float.
