Supplementing the lung and kidney and transforming phlegm

补益肺肾化痰 〔補益肺腎化痰〕bǔ yì fèi shèn huà tán

A method of treatment used to address lung-kidney yīn vacuity with exuberant internal damp phlegm marked by cough and nausea, counterflow panting, and copious phlegm with cough especially pronounced at night.

Medicinal therapy: This method uses a combination of medicinals that dry dampness and transform phlegm and medicinals that supplement the lung and kidney. A representative lung-kidney-supplementing phlegm-transforming formula is Six Gentlemen Metal and Water Brew (金水六君煎 jīn shuǐ liù jūn jiān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, LU, KI, and ST. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-43 (Gāo-Huāng Transport, 膏肓俞 gāo huāng shù), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), LU-9 (Great Abyss, 太渊 tài yuān), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng); needle with supplementation.
