Summerheat cough
暑咳 〔暑咳〕shǔ ké
Cough due to damage to the lung by summerheat. Summerheat cough is characterized by cough without phlegm or with scant foamy phlegm, rapid breathing, generalized heat, red face, thirst, oppression in the chest and rib-side pain, and a rapid slippery soggy pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Treat by clearing the lung and resolving summerheat. Use
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU, LI, ST, and PC. Select LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), LU-1 (Central Treasury, 中府 zhōng fǔ), and PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng); needle with drainage.
