Spontaneous bleeding of the ear
耳衄 〔耳衄〕ěr nǜ
Bleeding from the ear not attributable to injury. There are two patterns, lesser yīn (shào yīn) vacuity fire and reverting yīn (jué yīn) liver fire.
Patterns
Lesser yīn (shào yīn) vacuity fire (少阴虚火 shào yīn xū huǒ) patterns are characterized by pale red blood, absence of pain or swelling, and forceless fine rapid pulse that is especially weak at the two cubit positions.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on TB, GB, and KI. Select SI-19 (Auditory Palace, 听宫 tīng gōng), TB-17 (Wind Screen, 翳风 yì fēng), TB-3 (Central Islet, 中渚 zhōng zhǔ), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng), and LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng); needle with drainage or with even supplementation and drainage.
Reverting yīn (jué yīn) liver fire (厥阴肝火 jué yīn gān huǒ) is marked by the sudden flow of bright red blood from within the ear, swelling and pain, and a forceful stringlike pulse.
