Spontaneous bleeding of the flesh

肌衄 〔肌衄〕jī nǜ

Also sweating of blood. Bleeding through the pores of the skin unassociated with injury. It is attributed to qì-blood vacuity, yīn vacuity with effulgent fire, or intense liver-stomach fire.

Medicinal therapy: When attributable to qì-blood vacuity with blood dispersing with qì, it is treated by supplementing qì and boosting the blood using formulas such as Chinese Angelica Blood-Supplementing Decoction (当归补血汤 dāng guī bǔ xuè tāng), Origin-Preserving Decoction (保元汤 bǎo yuán tāng), and Astragalus Center-Fortifying Decoction (黄芪建中汤 huáng qí jiàn zhōng tāng). When attributable to yīn vacuity with effulgent fire, it is treated by nourishing yīn and clearing heat, using Blood-Cooling Rehmannia Decoction (凉血地黄汤 liáng xuè dì huáng tāng). When attributable to intense liver-stomach fire, it can be treated with Chinese Angelica, Gentian, and Aloe Pill (当归龙荟丸 dāng guī lóng huì wán). See spontaneous external bleeding.
