Blood arrow

血箭 〔血箭〕xuè jiàn

1. Spontaneous external bleeding of the flesh, attributable to exuberant fire in the heart channel that causes frenetic movement of the blood. Blood arrow is characterized by red macules and bleeding from the pores, in severe cases with blood spurting out like an arrow.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn, downbear fire, and cool the blood using Blood-Cooling Rehmannia Decoction (凉血地黄汤 liáng xuè dì huáng tāng). If bleeding is profuse, use Chinese Angelica Blood-Supplementing Decoction (当归补血汤 dāng guī bǔ xuè tāng). Peach Blossom Powder (桃花散 táo huā sǎn) may be applied topically.
