A method of treatment used to address heart palpitation or fearful throbbing, insomnia, and mania and withdrawal (mental disturbances).

Medicinal therapy: Fright-settling spirit-quieting medicinals include loadstone (Magnetitum, 磁石 cí shí), dragon bone (Mastodi Ossis Fossilia, 龙骨 lóng gǔ), oyster shell (Ostreae Concha, 牡蛎 mǔ lì), mother-of-pearl (Concha Margaritifera, 珍珠母 zhēn zhū mǔ), cinnabar (Cinnabaris, 朱砂 zhū shā), and iron flakes (Ferri Frusta, 铁落 tiě luò). These may be combined with heart yáng freeing medicinals such as cinnamon twig (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 桂枝 guì zhī) and acorus (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 石菖蒲 shí chāng pú). They also include medicinals that boost heart qì such as codonopsis (Codonopsis Radix, 党参 dǎng shēn), dried/fresh rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix, 生地黄 shēng dì huáng), Chinese angelica (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归 dāng guī), and ass hide glue (Asini Corii Colla, 阿胶 ē jiāo), as well as spirit-quieting medicinals like spiny jujube (Ziziphi Spinosi Semen, 酸枣仁 suān zǎo rén) and arborvitae seed (Platycladi Semen, 柏子仁 bǎi zǐ rén).

Representative formula: Loadstone and Cinnabar Pill (磁朱丸 cí zhū wán).

Acumoxatherapy: BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo) can be selected as the main points, adding other points for particular patterns and signs.
