Qì vacuity flooding and spotting

气虚崩漏 〔氣虛崩漏〕qì xū bēng lòu

Flooding and spotting (abnormal discharge of blood via the vagina) attributed to qì vacuity. Qì vacuity flooding and spotting occurs when constitutional vacuity, damage to the spleen by thought or anxiety, or dietary irregularities cause center qì fall and insecurity of the thoroughfare (chōng) vessel. It is characterized by copious or dribbling discharge of pale thin blood, accompanied by lassitude of spirit, shortness of breath and laziness to speak, no thought of food and drink, and in some cases by a bright-white facial complexion, heart palpitation, and empty sagging in the smaller abdomen.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement qì to contain the blood; fortify the spleen and secure the thoroughfare (chōng) vessel. Use formulas like Center-Supplementing Qì-Boosting Decoction (补中益气汤 bǔ zhōng yì qì tāng) or Origin-Lifting Brew (举元煎 jǔ yuán jiān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV and SP. Select GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), needling with supplementation and adding moxa.
