Qì reversal

气厥 〔氣厥〕qì jué

Reversal attributed to qì vacuity or qì repletion.

Qì vacuity (气虚 qì xū) reversal is characterized by dizziness and clouding collapse, bright-white facial complexion, sweating, cold limbs, and faint weak pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement qì and the blood using formulas such as Major Origin-Supplementing Brew (大补元煎 dà bǔ yuán jiān) or Pure Ginseng Decoction (独参汤 dú shēn tāng).

Qì repletion (气实 qì shí) reversal is characterized by sudden clouding reversal, panting and fullness in the chest and diaphragm, and a slippery stringlike pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Normalize qì and resolve depression using formulas such as Four Milled Ingredients Beverage (四磨饮 sì mò yǐn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LR, TB, and PC. Select LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān), LR-14 (Cycle Gate, 期门 qī mén), LR-13 (Camphorwood Gate, 章门 zhāng mén), TB-6 (Branch Ditch, 支沟 zhī gōu), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), GV-26 (Water Trough, 水沟 shuǐ gōu), and CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng).
