Millet sore of the eye

目生粟疮 〔目生粟瘡〕mù sheng sù chuāng

A soft yellow granulation like a millet seed growing inside the eyelid, causing tearing, itching, and pain. Millet sores of the eye are similar to and often accompanies a peppercorn sore. They are attributable to spleen-stomach damp-heat and external wind toxin congesting in the eyelid.

Biomedical correspondence: follicular conjunctivitis.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat, eliminate dampness, and dispel wind. Wind-Eliminating Spleen-Clearing Beverage (除风清脾饮 chú fēng qīng pí yǐn) plus flavescent sophora (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 苦参 kǔ shēn), kochia (Kochiae Fructus, 地肤子 dì fū zǐ), trifoliate akebia (Akebiae Trifoliatae Caulis, 木通 mù tōng), and red peony (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 赤芍药 chì sháo yào).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GB, BL, LI, SP, and ST. Select BL-1 (Bright Eyes, 睛明 jīng míng), BL-2 (Bamboo Gathering, 攒竹 zǎn zhú), GB-1 (Pupil Bone-Hole, 瞳子髎 tóng zǐ liáo), Greater yáng (tài yáng) (太阳 tài yáng), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), ST-44 (Inner Court, 内庭 nèi tíng), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ); needle with drainage.
