Major chest bind

大结胸 〔大結胸〕dà jié xiōng

Also phlegm-heat chest bind. A disease pattern arising when inappropriate application of precipitation of an unresolved exterior pattern in greater yáng (tài yáng) disease causes the heat evil to fall inward and combine with phlegm and water. Major chest bind is characterized by fullness, hardness and pain in the chest, stomach duct, and umbilical region that is too tender to be touched. Other signs include thirst, dry tongue, late afternoon tidal heat, and tight sunken pulse. Chest bind was first described in On Cold Damage (伤寒论 shāng hán lùn)

Medicinal therapy: Expel water and discharge heat. Use Major Chest Bind Decoction (大陷胸汤 dà xiàn xiōng tāng) or Pill.

Acumoxatherapy: Select GV-12 (Body Pillar, 身柱 shēn zhù), PC-5 (Intermediary Courier, 间使 jiān shǐ), PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with drainage.
