Heat hiccup
热呃 〔熱呃〕rè è
Hiccup attributed to stomach fire ascending counterflow or depressed phlegm-fire. Heat hiccup is a forceful hiccup accompanied by red facial complexion, vexation and thirst, dry mouth and dry tongue, yellow tongue fur, and a rapid large surging pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Harmonize the stomach and downbear fire using formulas such as
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST, LR, and PC. Main points: BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), CV-14 (Great Tower Gate, 巨阙 jù què), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), and LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng).
- For stomach fire ascending counterflow, add ST-44 (Inner Court, 内庭 nèi tíng) and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and needle with drainage. For depressed phlegm-fire, add ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng).
- For constipation, add TB-6 (Branch Ditch, 支沟 zhī gōu), and needle with drainage.
