Heat distension

热胀 〔熱脹〕rè zhàng

Distension arising when damage by liquor and rich food causes damp-heat to brew in the center or when depressed qì transforms into fire. Heat distension is characterized by abdominal fullness and distension, dry bound stool, yellow or reddish urine, and a rapid surging pulse. In some cases, there is heat effusion.

Medicinal therapy: Drain fire and dry dampness using Center Fullness Separating and Dispersing Pill (中满分消丸 zhōng mǎn fēn xiāo wán) or Chinese Angelica, Gentian, and Aloe Pill (当归龙荟丸 dāng guī lóng huì wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST, CV, PC, SP, and LI. Select ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), ST-44 (Inner Court, 内庭 nèi tíng), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with drainage.
