Food accumulation rib-side pain

食积胁痛 〔食積脅痛〕shí jī xié tòng

Rib-side pain arising when dietary irregularities cause food stagnation and congestion of qì dynamic. The rib-side pain is associated with distension and glomus in the stomach duct and abdomen, oppression in the chest, nausea, and no thought of food. In some cases, there is a sausage-shaped protuberance under the ribs.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by abductive dispersion to eliminate the accumulation using formulas like Harmony-Preserving Pill (保和丸 bǎo hé wán) and variations.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, ST, PC, LR, and GB. Select Lǐ Inner Court (里内庭 lǐ nèi tíng), CV-10 (Lower Stomach Duct, 下脘 xià wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), LR-14 (Cycle Gate, 期门 qī mén), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), and GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán). Needle with drainage.
