Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Shān zhā disperses all types of food accumulation and stagnation, especially greasy meat-type accumulations. Hence, it is the sovereign agent. Lái fú zǐ disperses food and precipitates qì; it is especially effective for wheat starch accumulations with phlegm qì. Shén qū arouses the spleen and disperses food; it is especially good for old putrid accumulations from intemperate eating and drinking. These three agents strengthen each other's action. Chén pí, Bàn xià, and Fú líng arouse the spleen and harmonize the stomach, restoring normal splenic movement by which damp is transformed. Lián qiào is included to clear heat and disperse binds. This is a gentle-acting abducting dispersion formula; hence its name.
