Damp toxin sore
湿毒疮 〔濕毒瘡〕 shī dú chuāng
Also downpour sore. A sore on the lower leg or ankle attributed to wind, dampness, and heat lodged in the skin. Acute forms, attributed to prevalence of damp-heat, begin with flushing of the skin and papules, and with vesicles that itch to exude a yellow discharge. Chronic forms, which are complicated by blood vacuity, are characterized by drying, thickening, and scaling of the skin.

Medicinal therapy: Treat the acute form by clearing heat and disinhibiting dampness. For oral medication use
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, LI, ST, and SP. Main points: GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo). For acute cases, needle with drainage to clear heat and disinhibit dampness. For chronic cases, add SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), and needle with supplementation to nourish the blood and dispel wind; also apply the pricking and cupping method.
