Indications:
- Promotes contraction and stanches bleeding: Expectoration of blood, vomiting of blood (blood ejection), and nosebleed, bloody urine, bloody stool, and flooding and spotting.
- Checks dysentery: Diarrhea and dysentery.
- Kills worms: Trichomonal vaginitis, genital damp itch.
- Additional uses: Xiān hè cǎo may be used for lassitude of spirit and lack of strength when these result from taxation damage. For this purpose, combine 30g each of xiān hè cǎo and dà zǎo (大枣 Jujubae Fructus, jujube;) for use as a decoction. Xiān hè cǎo is used for sores,
scab , and swollen welling-abscesses, as well as swollen hemorrhoids. It is decocted and made into a paste with honey, which is then applied externally and taken internally at the same time.
Dosage & Method:
Oral: 10–15g, up to 30–60g in decoctions for internal use. Also used externally.
Quality:
Purple-red stems with tender branches and undamaged leaves are the best.
