Actions: Warms the center, supplements yáng, disperses cold, and relieves pain.
Indications:
Method: Grind the aconite and dried ginger and add to ready made gruel with onions and sugar and cook together for a short time. Alternatively, add a strained decoction of the aconite and dried ginger.
Rationale: Fù zǐ is sweet and acrid and very hot. It returns yáng and supplements fire, disperses cold and relieves pain. Modern research shows that it is a powerful cardiotonic and hypertensor. Gān jiāng is hot and acrid. It warms the center and expels cold, returns yáng and frees the vessels. It is not as powerful as Fù zǐ, but its effect is longer lasting.
