Chéng's Impediment-Alleviating Decoction

程氏蠲痹汤 〔程氏蠲痺湯〕 chéng shì juān bì tāng

Ingredients

Indications: Wind, cold, and dampness uniting to form impediment (); crane's-knee wind.

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Qiāng huó and Dú huó eliminate wind, cold, and dampness, disinhibit the joints, and relieve pain. The former acts on the upper body and latter on the lower body. Chuān xiōng treats wind and blood conditions. Mù xiāng addresses pain. Dāng guī and Rǔ xiāng supplement and quickens the blood. Qín jiāo, Hǎi fēng téng, and Sāng zhī help to dispel wind-damp, and with Ròu guì help to free the channels.
