Red Poria Decoction
赤苓汤 〔赤苓湯〕 chì líng tāng

Ingredients
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 15g
- Fáng jǐ (防己 Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix, fangji [root]) 10g
- Sāng bái pí (桑白皮 Mori Cortex, mulberry bark) 10g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 10g
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel) 10g
- Xuán fù huā (旋覆花 Inulae Flos, inula flower) 6g
- Běi xìng rén (北杏仁 Armeniacae Semen Septentrionale%#%, northern apricot kernel) 6g
- Má huáng (麻黄 Ephedrae Herba, ephedra) (with roots and nodes removed) 6g
- Zǐ sū gěng (紫苏梗 Perillae Caulis, perilla stem) 6g
- Hēi dà dòu (黑大豆 Sojae Semen Atrum, black soybean) 20g
- Shēng jiāng (生姜 Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, fresh ginger) 3 slices
Actions: Fortifies the spleen and percolates dampness; rectifies qì.
Indications: Leg qì (jiǎo qì) disease due to splenic movement and transformation failure of water-damp, manifesting in signs such as heaviness, numbness and tingling, a lack of strength in the legs,
Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Fú líng and Fáng jǐ percolate dampness and disinhibit water. Fú líng also fortifies the spleen. Sāng bái pí and Má huáng downbear lung qì, and regulate the waterways, enhancing the water-disinhibiting action of Fú líng and Fáng jǐ to help disperse swelling, the tip of the condition. Bái zhú and Hēi dà dòu fortify the spleen and transform dampness. Chén pí and Shēng jiāng help the spleen-fortifying action of Fú líng. These agents therefore treat the root of
