Source: Yǎn Kē Liù Jīng Fǎ Yào 眼科六经法要

Ingredients:

• Tù sī zǐ (菟丝子 Cuscutae Semen, cuscuta [seed]) 240g
• 楮实子 240g
• Gǒu qǐ zǐ (枸杞子 Lycii Fructus, lycium [berry]) 60g
• Chē qián zǐ (车前子 Plantaginis Semen, plantago seed) 15g
• Hán shuǐ shí (寒水石 Gypsum seu Calcitum , glauberite) 90g
• Wǔ wèi zǐ (五味子 Schisandrae Fructus, schisandra [berry]) 60g
• Chōng wèi zǐ (茺蔚子 Leonuri Fructus, leonurus fruit) 18g
• Shēng sān qī (生三七 Notoginseng Radix Cruda, raw notoginseng [root]) 15g
• Zǐ hé chē (紫河车 Hominis Placenta, placenta) 90g
• Mù guā (木瓜 Chaenomelis Fructus, chaenomeles [fruit]) 60g

Action: Supplements the liver and kidney; quickens the blood and brightens the eyes.

Indication: Blurred vision, or black spots before the eyes, or muscae volitantes without visible impediment. Can be used to treat central retinitis, vitreous opacity, farsightedness, nearsightedness, posterior synechia, and optic atrophy.

Method: Grind to a powder and form into pills with honey. Can also be prepared as a decoction but the weights should be reduced, and the notoginseng and placenta should be infused in the strained decoction).

Dosage: dose???

Rationale: Tù sī zǐ, Chǔ shí, Gǒu qǐ zǐ, Wǔ wèi zǐ, Chōng wèi zǐ, and Zǐ hé chē enrich the liver and kidney. Chē qián cǎo see and Mù guā engender liquid and disinhibit dampness. Sān qī quickens the blood and transforms stasis. Calcite is cold and balances the warmth of the Zǐ hé chē.
