Ingredients:

• Rén shēn (人参 Ginseng Radix, ginseng)
• Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria)
• Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root])
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried)
• Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica)
• Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root])
• Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
• Bái sháo (白芍 Paeoniae Radix Alba, white peony [root])
• Tù sī zǐ (菟丝子 Cuscutae Semen, cuscuta [seed])
• Dù zhòng (杜仲 Eucommiae Cortex, eucommia [bark])
• Lù jiǎo shuāng (鹿角霜 Cervi Cornu Degelatinatum, degelatinated deer antler)
• Chuān jiāo (川椒 Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, zanthoxylum [husk])

Action:

Indication: Kidney vacuity infertility.

Rationale: For kidney yáng vacuity with physical cold with cold limbs, and cold sensation in smaller abdomen, add Bǔ gǔ zhī, Bā jǐ tiān, Ròu guì (ròu guì), and Fù zǐ. For kidney yīn vacuity with red cheeks and lips, tidal heat effusion, and night sweating, combine the formula with Liù wèi dì huáng tāng (六味地黄汤 Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Decoction).

Variations: For kidney yáng vacuity with physical cold with cold limbs, and cold sensation in smaller abdomen, add Bǔ gǔ zhī (补骨脂 Psoraleae Fructus, psoralea [fruit]), Bā jǐ tiān (巴戟天 Morindae Officinalis Radix, morinda [root]), Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark), and Fù zǐ (附子 Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, aconite [accessory root]). For kidney yīn vacuity with red cheeks and lips, tidal heat effusion, and night sweating, combine the formula with liuweidihuangtang.
