Properties: Acrid; warm; toxic.

Channel entry: Kidney, liver, and spleen channels.

Indications:

Dosage & Method: Oral: 3–10g in decoctions or prepared as a medicinal liquor. Use the raw form for impediment pain; stir-fry it with wine to treat impotence.

Warnings: Contraindicated in yīn vacuity with effulgent fire.

Quality: Thick long firm roots that are brown on the outside are best.
