Wind-damp impediment
风湿痹 〔風濕痹〕fēng shī bì
From When wind, cold, and damp evils concur and combine, they give rise to impediment. Impediment with more wind and damp qì than cold qì is wind-damp impediment.
It is characterized by thickening of the skin, aching muscular pain. If it persists for a long time, voluntary physical movement may be affected.
Medicinal therapy: Dispel wind and dampness. Use
Acumoxatherapy: The main points for dispelling wind and dampness are GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), GV-16 (Wind Mansion, 风府 fēng fǔ), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and SP-5 (Shang Hill, 商丘 shāng qiū); needle with drainage and add moxa. Warm needling or cutaneous needling may also be used. Points should also be selected according to affected area (see impediment). See wind impediment; damp impediment.
