Warm precipitation
温下 〔溫下〕wēn xià
A method of precipitation applied to cold-natured accumulation and stagnation forming interior repletion patterns often referred to as cold bind, and characterized by constipation, with abdominal fullness, cold extremities, white slimy tongue fur, and sunken stringlike or slow sunken pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Warm precipitation makes use of warm precipitating medicinals like croton (Crotonis Fructus, 巴豆 bā dòu) or uses warm or hot medicinals in combination with cold ones, such as aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ) and asarum (Asari Rhizoma et Radix, 细辛 xì xīn) with rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄 dà huáng).
Representative formulas include
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on the alarm, back transport, and lower uniting points of LI, and on CV, SP, KI, and other back transport points. Select BL-25 (Large Intestine Transport, 大肠俞 dà cháng shù), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), ST-37 (Upper Great Hollow, 上巨虚 shàng jù xū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), KI-18 (Stone Pass, 石关 shí guān), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), and CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán); needle with supplementation and add moxa. Apply moxa on salt or ginger at CV-8 (Spirit Gate Tower, 神阙 shén què).
