Terminating lactation

回乳 〔回乳〕 huí rǔ

断乳〔斷乳〕duàn rǔ

A method of treatment used to stop the flow of milk.

Medicinal therapy: Preparea a decoction of stir-fried barley sprout (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 麦芽 mài yá) and drink as tea. Decoct 80–100g (some say only 60 g) per day, and take for 3–5 consecutive days. Some also claim that raw barley sprout should be used. If signs such distension and pain in the breasts, or lumps, or even a sensation of heat in the breast appear, dandelion (Taraxaci Herba, 蒲公英 pú gōng yīng) can be added to clear heat and resolve toxin, and tangerine pip (Citri Reticulatae Semen, 橘核 jú hé), forsythia (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘 lián qiào), and gizzard lining (Galli Gigeriae Endothelium Corneum, 鸡内金 jī nèi jīn) can be added to disperse stagnation to prevent the development of mammary welling-abscess. Alternatively, use No-Nursing-Worries Powder (免怀散 miǎn huái sǎn) with the addition of barley sprout (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 麦芽 mài yá), tangerine pip (Citri Reticulatae Semen, 橘核 jú hé), and crataegus (Crataegi Fructus, 山楂 shān zhā).

Acumoxatherapy: Select GB-21 (Shoulder Well, 肩井 jiān jǐng), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), bilateral GB-37 (Bright Light, 光明 guāng míng), and bilateral GB-41 (Foot Overlooking Tears, 足临泣 zú lín qì); needle with drainage, and addg moxa at GB-37 and GB-41.
