Properties: Sweet; balanced.
Channel entry: spleen, stomach, bladder, and small intestine channels.
Indications:
- Disperses food and fortifies the spleen: Indigestion; food accumulation; child gān accumulation patterns.
- Secures essence and checks emission: Enuresis or seminal emission.
- Frees strangury and transforms stones: Sand or stone strangury and biliary calculus. For this application, it is often used with jīn qián cǎo (金钱草 Lysimachiae Herba, moneywort;).
Dosage & Method:
Oral: 3–10g in decoctions; it is more effective taken as a powder than as a decoction; for this, use 1.5–3g per dose.

Unsuitable for spleen vacuity without food
Quality:
Large unbroken golden yellow skins are the best.
