Summerheat malaria

暑疟 〔暑瘧〕shǔ nüè

1. Malaria resulting from contraction of the summerheat evil, characterized by heat effusion without aversion to cold, emaciation, cold back, and grimy face.

Medicinal therapy: Clear summerheat with formulas such as Origin-Boosting Powder (益元散 yì yuán sǎn), Mosla Beverage (香薷饮 xiāng rú yǐn), or Bupleurum White Tiger Decoction (柴胡白虎汤 chái hú bái hǔ tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, PC, SI, and LI. Select GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), GV-13 (Kiln Path, 陶道 táo dào), PC-5 (Intermediary Courier, 间使 jiān shǐ), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), LI-1 (Shang Yáng, 商阳 shāng yáng), and TB-1 (Passage Hub, 关冲 guān chōng). 3. A form of damp malaria characterized by generalized pain and heaviness, pain in the joints, vomiting, distension and fullness, discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, and a pulse that is tight and floating, moderate and floating, or rapid and surging.

Medicinal therapy: Dry dampness and disperse the evil.
