Bupleurum White Tiger Decoction
柴胡白虎汤 〔柴胡白虎湯〕chái hú bái hǔ tāng

Ingredients:
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 3g
- Shí gāo (石膏 Gypsum Fibrosum, gypsum) 24g
- Tiān huā fěn (天花粉 Trichosanthis Radix, trichosanthes root) 9g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 4.5g
- Zhī mǔ (知母 Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, anemarrhena [root]) 12g
- Jīng mǐ (粳米 Oryzae Semen, non-glutinous rice) 9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 2.4g
- Xiān hé yè (鲜荷叶 Nelumbinis Folium Recens, fresh lotus leaf) 1 leaf
Action: Harmonizes lesser yáng (shào yáng) and clears greater yáng (tài yáng).
Indication: Severe heat effusion alternating with mild aversion to cold, sweating, irritability, thirst, and a forceful, rapid, stringlike pulse in lesser yáng and yáng brightness combination disease, usually when the evil is resolving.
