Static blood lumbar pain

瘀血腰痛 〔瘀血腰痛〕yū xuè yāo tòng

Also blood stasis lumbar pain. Lumbar pain due to blood stasis that congeals and accumulates either as a result of knocks and falls or wrenching, or as a result of enduring lumbar pain due to other causes. Static blood lumbar pain is characterized by pain of fixed location, like the piercing of an awl, mild in the day and more severe at night, and accompanied by a rough pulse. In some cases, the stool may be black and the urine yellow, reddish, or blackish.

Medicinal therapy: Quicken the blood and transform stasis using Major Yīn Supplementation Pill (大补阴丸 dà bǔ yīn wán) plus peach kernel (Persicae Semen, 桃仁 táo rén) and carthamus (Carthami Flos, 红花 hóng huā), or using Peach Kernel Qì-Coordinating Decoction (桃核承气汤 táo hé chéng qì tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on back transport points and BL. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), GV-3 (Lumbar Yáng Pass, 腰阳关 yāo yáng guān), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), and BL-32 (Second Bone-Hole, 次髎 cì liáo); need with even supplementation and drainage. BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng) can be bled with a three-edged needle or needled. ouch points (阿是穴 ā shì xué) may also be needled. For long-standing pain, tap ouch points with a plum-blossom needle and fire-cup.
