Spleen vacuity engendering wind

脾虚生风 〔脾虛生風〕 pí xū shēng fēng

Internal wind due to spleen vacuity. Spleen vacuity engendering wind is mostly the result of damage to the spleen by vomiting and diarrhea or medication. It is characterized by mild convulsions of the extremities accompanied by counterflow cold of the limbs, faint nose and mouth breath, and clouding sleep with exposed eyeballs.

Medicinal therapy: Warm and supplement the spleen and stomach. Use Spleen-Returning Decoction (归脾汤 guī pí tāng) plus uncaria (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis, 钩藤 gōu téng) and notopterygium (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 羌活 qiāng huó), or use Six Gentlemen Decoction (六君子汤 liù jūn zǐ tāng) plus blast-fried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, 炮姜 páo jiāng), cinnamon bark (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂 ròu guì), and scorpion tail (Buthi Caudex, 蝎梢 xiē shāo).
