Slumping mounting

㿉疝 〔㿉疝〕tuí shàn

A mounting disease first mentioned in Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, jīng mài bié lùn): The reverting yīn (jué yīn) vessel.... when this moves, then there is lumbar pain that prevents bending forward and backward, and in men slumping mounting and in women welling in the lesser abdomen. In later times, it mostly denoted conditions of the yīn sac (scrotum) characterized by swelling, ulceration, and flowing forth of pus and blood. Indispensable Medical Reading (医宗必读 yī zōng bì dú): Sluming mounting is a disease of the foot yáng brightness (yáng míng), characterized by pus and blood inside. This is what was called bowel mounting by Cáo [in the Zhū bìng yuán hóu lùn] and blood mounting by Zi-he. See bowel mounting and blood mounting. Systematized Patterns with Clear-Cut Treatments (类证治裁 lèi zhèng zhì cái) states, When the liver vessel is severely slippery, [this] is slumping mounting, which means that liver-wood is exploiting the stomach, possibly giving rise to ulceration, with pus and passage of blood.

Medicinal therapy: Disperse cold, move qì, and transform stasis. Use Life Saver Tangerine Pip Pill (济生橘核丸 jì shēng jú hé wán) plus flying squirrel’s droppings (Trogopteri Faeces, 五灵脂 wǔ líng zhī), red peony (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 赤芍药 chì sháo yào), cyathula (Cyathulae Radix, 川牛膝 chuān niú xī), and Chinese angelica (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归 dāng guī).
