Seminal efflux

滑精 〔滑精〕huá jīng

Involuntary loss of semen (essence) occurring in sleep without dreaming and when awake, in severe cases several times a day. Jing-Yue’s Complete Compendium (景岳全书 jǐng yuè quán shū) states, Emission of semen not due to dreaming is called seminal efflux. Seminal efflux sexual performance incommensurate with libido, sexual intemperance, or excessive masturbation, causing depletion of the kidney origin and insecurity of the essence gate.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with formulas such as Golden Lock Essence-Securing Pill (金锁固精丸 jīn suǒ gù jīng wán), Left-Restoring [Kidney Yin] Pill (左归丸 zuǒ guī wán), or Right-Restoring [Life Gate] Pill (右归丸 yòu guī wán). In some cases, it may be attributable to damp-heat or phlegm congestion.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, KI, and back transport points. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-12 (Great Manifestation, 大赫 dà hè), BL-52 (Palace of Essence, 精宫 jīng gōng), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ).
