Right-Restoring [Life Gate] Pill
右归丸 〔右歸丸〕yòu guī wán

Ingredients:
- Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root]) 240g
- Shān yào (山药 Dioscoreae Rhizoma, dioscorea [root]) 120g
- Shān zhū yú (山茱萸 Corni Fructus, cornus [fruit]) 90g
- Gǒu qǐ zǐ (枸杞子 Lycii Fructus, lycium [berry]) 120g
- Dù zhòng (杜仲 Eucommiae Cortex, eucommia [bark]) 120g
- Tù sī zǐ (菟丝子 Cuscutae Semen, cuscuta [seed]) 120g
- Fù zǐ (附子 Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, aconite [accessory root]) (processed) 60–180g
- Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) 60–180g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 90g
- Lù jiǎo jiāo (鹿角胶 Cervi Cornus Gelatinum, deer antler glue) 120g
Action: Warms kidney yáng; supplements essence-blood.
Indication: Debilitation of the life gate fire and insufficiency of essence-blood with signs such as qì timidity, lassitude of spirit, aversion to cold and cold limbs, limp aching lumbus and knees, impotence and seminal emission.
Category: Supplementing formulas / Yáng-supplementing formula
Method: Grind to a powder, blend with honey, and form into pills.
Dosage: 9g at a time. Can also be prepared as a decoction.
Notes: The formula is apparently so called because it supplements kidney yáng, which is reflected in the right hand. Restoring the right
thus means kidney yáng.
