Reducing urine

缩尿 〔縮尿〕suō niào

A method of treatment used to address enuresis and frequent long voidings of clear urine.

Medicinal therapy: The most commonly used urine-reducing medicinals include mantis egg-case (Mantidis Oötheca, 桑螵蛸 sāng piāo xiāo), dioscorea (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 山药 shān yào), rubus (Rubi Fructus, 覆盆子 fù pén zǐ), and alpinia (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus, 益智仁 yì zhì rén). Certain essence-securing medicinals such as Cherokee rose fruit (Rosae Laevigatae Fructus, 金樱子 jīn yīng zǐ), euryale (Euryales Semen, 芡实 qiàn shí), and lotus stamen (Nelumbinis Stamen, 莲须 lián xū) may also be used to reduce urine. Among formulas, Mantis Egg-Case Powder (桑螵蛸散 sāng piāo xiāo sǎn) has the added action of promoting interaction between the heart and kidney and is most used for enuresis in children. Stream-Reducing Pill (缩泉丸 suō quán wán), which warms and supplements kidney qì, is used to treat copious urine in vacuity patterns in elderly patients.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, SP, and back transport points. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and CV-2 (Curved Bone, 曲骨 qū gǔ)mx; needle with supplementation and moxa.
