Properties: Sweet and astringent; balanced; nontoxic*.

Channel entry: Heart and kidney channels.

Indications:

Clears the heart, boosts the kidney, astringes essence, and stanches bleeding.

dream emission; vomiting and retching; nosebleed (nǜ xuè); flooding and spotting; vaginal discharge; diarrhea.

Dosage & Method: Oral: Decoct (2.4–4.5g); use in pills and powders.

Quality: Undamaged soft slender pale yellow stamens are the best. Do not use if purplish-red or earth brown in color or exhibit signs of mold.

Product Area: Húnán, Húběi, Fújiàn, Jiāngsū, Zhèjiāng, Jiāngxī.
