Qì depression flooding

气郁血崩 〔氣鬱血崩〕qì yù xuè bēng

Flooding (profuse abnormal discharge of blood via the vagina) attributable to qì depression, occurring when sudden anger damages the liver and upsets its function of storing the blood, causing blood to move chaotically and the thoroughfare and controlling vessels to fall into imbalance. Qì depression flooding is characterized by sudden copious discharge of purple clotted blood, by vexation, agitation, and irascibility, and by rib-side discomfort.

Medicinal therapy: Treat the tip by stanching bleeding with Thoroughfare-Securing Decoction (固冲汤 gù chōng tāng). When bleeding has been reduced, Free Wanderer Powder (逍遥散 xiāo yáo sǎn) plus stir-fried cyperus (Cyperi Rhizoma, 香附子 xiāng fù zǐ) and 青皮 (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, qīngqīng pí) can be prescribed to course the liver and resolve depression. Alternatively, stir-fried cyperus (Cyperi Rhizoma, 香附子 xiāng fù zǐ) ground to a powder can be taken in doses of 10g at a time with water in which rice has been cooked.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, SP, LR, and PC. Select CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), SP-1 (Hidden White, 隐白 yǐn bái), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), TB-6 (Branch Ditch, 支沟 zhī gōu), and LR-1 (Large Pile, 大敦 dà dūn). Needle with drainage.
