Food damage that occurs as a result of dietary irregularity causing damage to the spleen and stomach after childbirth. Postpartum food damage is characterized by fullness and oppression in the chest and stomach duct, putrid belching and acid swallowing, and sour-smelling stool.
Medicinal therapy: Treat by simultaneous dispersion and supplementation. Use Engendering Transformation Decoction (生化汤shēng huà tāng) with the addition of abducting dispersion medicinals. For noodle-type food damage, use medicated leaven (Massa Medicata Fermentata, 神曲shén qū) and barley sprout (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 麦芽mài yá). For meat-type food damage, add crataegus (Crataegi Fructus, 山楂shān zhā) and amomum (Amomi Fructus, 砂仁shā rén). For damage by raw or cold foods, add evodia (Evodiae Fructus, 吴茱萸wú zhū yú) and cinnamon bark (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂ròu guì). If there is pronounced vacuity, add ginseng (Ginseng Radix, 人参rén shēn) and white atractylodes (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白朮bái zhú).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, ST, and SP. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), CV-10 (Lower Stomach Duct, 下脘 xià wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and Lǐ Inner Court (里内庭lǐ nèi tíng); needle with even supplementation and drainage.
