Phlegm-fire dizziness

痰火眩晕 〔痰火眩暈〕tán huǒ xuàn yūn

Dizziness attributed to phlegm turbidity with fire clouding clear yáng in the upper body. The dizziness is associated with heavy distended eyes and is accompanied by heart vexation, nausea, and upflow and ejection of phlegm-drool, bitter taste in the mouth, reddish urine, slimy yellow tongue fur, and a slippery stringlike pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Transform phlegm and downbear fire using formulas such as Upper-Body-Clearing Pill (清上丸 qīng shàng wán) or Coptis Gallbladder-Warming Decoction (黄连温胆汤 huáng lián wēn dǎn tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST and LI. Select ST-8 (Head Corner, 头维 tóu wéi), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng), ST-41 (Ravine Divide, 解溪 jiě xī), HT-8 (Lesser Mansion, 少府 shào fǔ), PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng), and LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān). Needle with drainage or prick to bleed with three-edged needle.
