Blood vacuity impediment

血虚痹 〔血虛痹〕xuè xū bì

Blood vacuity depriving the limbs of nourishment, sometimes with contraction of wind-damp evil. Blood vacuity impediment is characterized by numbness of the skin, or inability to lift the limbs, and a scallion-stalk pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Apply the method of nourishing the blood, combined as necessary with boosting qì and dispelling wind. Use formulas such as Chinese Angelica Center-Fortifying Decoction (当归建中汤 dāng guī jiàn zhōng tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Use the basic treatments for impediment () combined with qì-supplementing blood-nourishing points such as LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), and BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù). Needle with supplementation and add moxa.
