Blood vacuity heat effusion

血虚热〔血虛熱〕xuè xū rè

Heat effusion due to blood vacuity. Blood vacuity heat effusion is attributed most commonly to blood ejection, bloody stool, or postpartum flooding and spotting, but sometimes to internal damage to the spleen and stomach from dietary irregularities or taxation fatigue. Signs include heat in the flesh, a red facial complexion, thirst, and sometimes vexation and agitation, and unquiet sleep. The pulse is large and vacuous and is forceless under pressure.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and nourish the blood or nourish the blood and boost qì. Use formulas such as Four Agents Decoction (四物汤 sì wù tāng), Chinese Angelica Blood-Supplementing Decoction (当归补血汤 dāng guī bǔ xuè tāng), or Sagacious Cure Decoction (圣愈汤 shèng yù tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on the back transport points, SP, ST, and LI, selecting ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí). Needle with supplementation or even supplementation and drainage.
