Liver-kidney yīn vacuity flooding and spotting

肝肾阴虚崩漏 〔肝腎陰虛崩漏〕gān shèn yīn xū bēng lòu

Flooding and spotting attributed to liver-kidney yīn vacuity arising when congenital insufficiency, early marriage, or marriage wears qì and blood, causing liver-kidney yīn vacuity which engenders heat that damages the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels and gives rise to frenetic movement of the blood. The flooding and spotting is characterized by sudden onset and persistent bright red discharge of varying intensityand is accompanied by dizzy head and tinnitus, limp aching lumbus and weak knees, reddening of the cheeks, heat in the hearts of the palms and souls, and in some cases postmeridian tidal heat.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich the liver and kidney; clear heat and secure the thoroughfare (chōng) vessel. Use Rehmannia and Lycium Root Bark Decoction (两地汤 liǎng dì tāng) or Clear Sea Pill (清海丸 qīng hǎi wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, SP, KI, and LR. Select CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), KI-10 (Yin Valley, 阴谷 yīn gǔ), and LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng); needle with supplementation.
