Gallbladder vacuity sleeplessness

胆虚不得眠 〔膽虛不得眠〕 dǎn xū bù dé mián

Sleeplessness (insomnia) due to gallbladder vacuity and the presence of evils causing disquietude of the spirit. Gallbladder vacuity insomnia is characterized by waking with a sudden fright or start after falling asleep and is accompanied by heart vexation, heart palpitation, and disquieted spirit.

Medicinal therapy: Warm the gallbladder using Gallbladder-Warming Decoction (温胆汤 wēn dǎn tāng) or ground stir-fried spiny jujube (Ziziphi Spinosi Semen, 酸枣仁 suān zǎo rén) taken with wine.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on HT, GB, and LR. Select Alert Spirit Quartet (四神聪 sì shén cōng), HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), BL-19 (Gallbladder Transport, 胆俞 dǎn shù), BL-14 (Reverting yīn (jué yīn) Transport, 厥阴俞 jué yīn shù), GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán), and GB-40 (Hill Ruins, 丘墟 qiū xū); needle with supplementation.
