Fire panting

火喘 〔火喘〕 huǒ chuǎn

1. Also lung-stomach flaming fire panting. Panting due to lung-stomach flaming fire arising when repletion fire in the stomach surges up into the lung, and characterized by periodic panting that is relieved by eating, and resumes after eating.

Medicinal therapy: Clear fire and flush phlegm using White Tiger Decoction (白虎汤 bái hǔ tāng) or Phlegm-Abducting Decoction (导痰汤 dǎo tán tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU, ST, LI, and CV. Select LU-1 (Central Treasury, 中府 zhōng fǔ), BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), M-BW-1 (定喘 dìng chuǎn, Panting Stabilizer), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), ST-44 (Inner Court, 内庭 nèi tíng), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng); needle with drainage. For exuberant fire evil, add LU-11 (Lesser Shang, 少商 shào shāng), pricking to bleed.

2. Panting due to ascent of thoroughfare (chōng) vessel fire.

Medicinal therapy: Discharge thoroughfare vessel fire with Kidney-Enriching Gate-Opening Pill (滋肾通关丸 zī shèn tōng guān wán).
