Fire needling

火针 〔火針〕 huǒ zhēn

火针疗法〔火針療法〕huǒ zhēn liáo fǎ

A method of acupuncture involving the swift pricking of the skin with a red hot needle. Fire needling is used in the treatment of welling-abscess (yōng), scrofula, stubborn lichen xiǎn, and impediment (bì) pain. This method corresponds to red-hot needling among the nine needling methods.
