Dryness-heat wilting

燥热痿 〔燥熱痿〕zào rè wěi

Wilting (wěi) that arises when dryness-heat damages liquid and the blood, depriving the sinews of nourishment. Dryness-heat wilting is characterized by limpness of the extremities preventing normal movement and is attended by signs such as dry skin and hair, dry mouth, and parched lips.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and moisten dryness; enrich yīn and nourish the blood. Use formulas such as Dryness-Clearing Lung-Rescuing Decoction (清燥救肺汤 qīng zào jiù fèi tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Use the general points given under wilting, and add GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng), and KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi). Needle with drainage.
