Damp-heat headache

湿热头痛 〔濕熱頭痛〕shī rè tóu tòng

Headache due to damp-heat steaming upward and clouding the upper orifices. It is associated with heavy-headedness, heavy body, vexation, pain in the joints, swelling of the limbs and face, slimy yellow tongue fur, and a rapid soggy pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and transform dampness. Use Clear Sky Paste (清空膏 qīng kōng gāo) or Three Kernels Decoction (三仁汤 sān rén tāng) and their variations.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST and LI. Select Greater yáng (tài yáng) (太阳 tài yáng), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and needle with drainage.
