Malodorous vaginal discharge like rice water (water in which rice has been washed), yellow-green like pus, or multicolored, and attended by pudendal itch and soreness. It occurs during menstrual periods or after childbirth and is attributed to damp toxin exploiting vacuity of the uterine vessels and damaging the uterine vessels and the qì and blood of the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels.
Medicinal therapy: Use Discharge-Checking Formula (止带方zhǐ dài fāng), to which lonicera (Lonicerae Flos, 金银花jīn yín huā), forsythia (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘lián qiào), and houttuynia (Houttuyniae Herba, 鱼腥草yú xīng cǎo) may also be added. In modern clinical practice, this kind of vaginal discharge is sometimes associated with cancer.
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, GIV, and SP. Select GB-26 (Girdling Vessel, 带脉 dài mài), BL-30 (White Ring Transport, 白环俞 bái huán shù), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and BL-34 (Lower Bone-Hole, 下髎 xià liáo). Needle with drainage.
