SI-10 Upper Arm Transport

臑俞 〔臑俞〕nào shù

Channel: SI, Hand Greater Yáng (tài yáng) Small Intestine Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the posterior aspect of the shoulder, in the depression just medial to the acromial angle and below the inferior border of the scapular spine.

Classic location: Behind Shoulder Bone-Hole (TB-14), below the large bone, in the depression above the shoulder blade. The point is found with the arm raised. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The posterior circumflex humeral artery and vein; deeper, the suprascapular artery and vein. The posterior cutaneous nerve of the arm, the axillary nerve; deeper, the suprascapular nerve.

Action: Quickens the blood and frees the network vessels; soothes the sinews and disperses binds.

Modern indications: Shoulder pain; arm pain; scrofula.

Classic indications: Heat effusion and aversion to cold; inability to move the shoulder and arm; shoulder pain that extends to the scapula.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3 cones; pole 5‒20 min.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the small intestine channel and the yáng linking vessel (yáng wéi mài) and yáng springing vessel (yáng qiāo mài)s.
